Fall is approaching, and it is the time of year spiders and bugs are plentiful—ugh! So that you can enjoy you outdoor living space this season, keep in mind some of these tips to make your patio bug resistent:

 •
Keep spray on hand. Spray your balconies, patios and around your doorways with products like raid or something comparable. This will help eliminate these pests and allow you to enjoy your outdoor spaces.

 •
Workout Your Broom. Get your broom out and give it a workout. Knocking down the webs will help keep the bugs away.

 •
Keep your outdoor living area clean. When there isn't a lot of items on your patio, there are less areas for bugs to hide.

 •
Bug repelling greenery. Plants like citronella grass, rosemary, catnip and marigolds work well at repelling mosquitoes! Add one of these to your patio garden!

 •
Remove standing water. Mosquitoes lay eggs in standing water. Make sure there are no pots or containers on your patio where water will gather.

 •
Do not store trash or recycling on your patio. Flies and ants LOVE garbage. When there's more flies and ants in one area, more bugs will come along with it. Make sure when you need to empty your trash to take it straight to the trash compactor.

 •
Keep food covered. It's hard to have an enjoyable dinner out on your patio when you have to keep swatting the flies away. If you're outside enjoying your meal on the patio, keep it covered.

 •
Citronella Candles. Rather than applying an entire can of bug spray on you when you walk out on the patio, light a candle. Most citronella candles are effective within a 4 foot radius of the wick. Make sure to keep an eye on it! Burn out the candle first before making your way back inside.
